Tanya H. Ko was born in Korea, and immigrated to the United States in
1982.In 1987, she won first place in the Echo's Literature Contest in Poetry and
second place in the Christian Literature Contest in Poetry.
In 1993, her first book of poetry, Generation One Point Five, was
published critical praise.
Mother's Diary from Generation One Point Five, her first
collection of essays, was published in 2002.
The Korean Journal of Dallas, Texas, placed the book on their "Recommended
Reading " list.
Her latest book, Yellow Flowers on a Rainy Day documents the
journey of a young woman from courtship through marriage to motherhood
nwith all
of
the surprises of life included.
In simple and touching poetry, the author speak s about the frustrations
and joys of raising children.
The words go straight to the heart.
She lives in Racho Palos Verdes with her husband and three children and a
dog.

The Ocean and Me
Before this live,
Maybe I was water.
When I stand in front of
the ocean,
nI am so peaceful.
When the waves
come to me,
I throw myself to the
water and I become water.
When I stay in the water for one hour,
my heart becomes like an ocean;
my soul, soft like babe seaweed.
I don't say anything
but the sea knows.
Even thought the sea doesn't say anything,
I know
I was the sea.
When I stand
in front of the ocean,
gradually,
I melt.
I become blue water.
